Restoring the gold leaf decoration
on American LaFrance fire apparatus.

By staying with the same look for decades, the American LaFrance Company developed a continuity in the appearance of their vehicles. A fire house could have a new and an old American LaFrance engine, and the decoration would match, though the bodies and technology had changed. The American LaFrance Co. kept the tradition of hand painted bold Renaissance scrolls on fire engines alive into the 1950s.
